Reflections/Insights for Module 2a Instructional Designs and Models

Instructional design models should consider, among other factors, learner interests and needs in their choice of instructional design.

Instructional design principles should guide the teacher in the instructional design stages – design, development, evaluation, and revision.

The applicability of the given instructional design models is best assessed on the teacher’s understanding of the application of the model to his/her teaching relative to the learning environment.

The instructional design model by Gagne and Briggs is most appropriate in the instructional delivery such as the day-to-day classroom interaction. The ASSURE, ADDIE and Dick and Carey Models pertains more to the total instructional process and thus is wider in scope than the Gagne-Briggs model.
Insights/Reflections of Module 1 Pedagogical Perspectives on the Role of
Technology in Education

Question: What are my insights on the role of technology in education?

Technologies are powerful tools for teaching and learning. The infusion and integration of these technologies appropriate in the classroom deserve to be given due attention in the contemporary educational system. Such technology can be used as amplifiers and transformers for the learning environment.

Technology is used as amplifier to increase the intensity of learning – augment the drama of the teaching-learning experience.

Technology is used as transformer to change the learning environment and the teaching-learning process.

Instructional designs should therefore consider these functions of technology.
